Mother Believes

Mother finally believes God may be good
that her daughters may be too
that she may be too.
She finally looks into the web
of winter tree limbs
and sees a simple pattern
repeated and expanded
into taking breath
stopping it
from its ragged in and out
slavery
and freeing it into the wind.
