wrinkles upside down prairies, and you in the morning

drop to the dirt
give up the giving, begging
visions taken
uncertain blaze of joy
under these ribs, you've counted
the muscle splints, you've unstrung

let my brain unwrinkle
(why I can't sleep)
ladders  built with the daylight ride
up a rippled sky, an upside down prarie.
I run, calf high grass, my face one smooth sheet again.
forgetting yo
ur flicker,                                                                                                              the reason I couldn’t sleep in the first place.
the midnight keeps me looking for you over.
pray my brain never wrinkles
a way out of love with you.
and the sky prairie
a new altar of
“it is better to have never loved at all”
